The Jungle Trek Of Aadrai

Walking through the dancing meadow we followed the nature's trail to see the water from the parallel cliff cascade down with tremendous speed, astoundingly splattering up in the sky as the air drifted it back with immense speed.....

Hidden between the Mountainous arms of the Sahyadri, the Aadrai jungle is the perfect getaway spot for all the urbanites looking for a break from the stinky city rush. Located in Junnar in the Pune district, the jungle of Aadrai is an untouched nature's bliss that lies deep within the Malshet Ghat.

Our journey began early in the morning, we boarded the bus and headed towards the base village. The trek was completely organised by Trekpanda . So we got down, had our breakfast packed our necessities and started marching downwards the village road. The village was located at the bank of a beautiful lake whose water glittered as the morning sun-shine bounced of it's surface. The entire mountain range was visible from that track, the peaks were completely embedded in the clouds while the sun-rays were struggling to make their way. The village itself was a work of art, the mud houses, the clean roads, the blazing greenery of the fields and the fresh air as if it directly came from a piece of Michelangelo's work.

The trekking route was quite easy, there were many small puddles on the rocky way, so you must be ready to get your precious shoes wet and dirty😔. There is an ancient Mahadev temple on the way as well. It's a pleasant ascent to a point, from where you can see the entire valley and innumerable waterfalls flowing through it while on the other side, lies a gigantic mountain still embedded in the clouds. As I sat on the cliff of that point I could feel water droplets sprinkled back on my face in the direction of the wind. The entire scene looked familiar to the scene from the movie 'UP'. (Okay, not exactly but sure felt like it!😍)

After       experiencing   the sheer   beauty of the   valley we   continued   our trek   passing   through the   jungle. It got   dark as soon   as we entered the lush shade of the forest tress, it  was like a little hidden path with trees on both sides  expecting us to lead to a destination. The trekking   path was quite easy; singing and dancing and joking,  we reached a small waterfall cascading down each stony step on it's way. We halted there for a while ate some snacks, drenched ourselves in the waterfall and enjoyed the peace of nature by creating a chaos in the water puddle of the fall!

We continued our track which lead us to a vastly open meadow, that looked exactly like the Microsoft wallpaper. There was no chance that one could tell there was a waterfall [Kalu waterfall] ahead until a few steps taken towards the cliff. It was the most blissful sight ever! The water fell down with such a speed and then rose back up in the air to create blurry rainbows and a fog like view. We laid there on the soft grass feeling the water drops on our face creating shapes out of the clouds and getting lost in the moment . It started to drizzle after sometime so we put our raincoats and headed back.

The way back was simple. A small pathway with wild flowers bloomed on both sides. A small stream of water continuously flowing with mini fishes within it. A gentle breeze along with a mild drizzle and the quiet of nature. We returned back to the village and had the most luxurious meal the villagers had to offer, it was a traditional Maharashtrian meal and was quiet appetizing for all the hungry trekkers. As we headed back, the lake that sunbathed in the morning-sunshine was now calm and still as if it was too tired from a mesmerizing trek!

The jungle of Aadrai, truly is a wonder for all those looking for a quick break from the daily routine life. It's best in monsoon and winters. With or without any company I assure you that the trek is quite the escape from the city rush to a small hidden world independently waiting to pump you up with nature's best energy.☺
